This is the fractures of everyday life, a (hopefully) witty play on the title of of the first volume in Fernand Braudel’s monumental trilogy detailing the rise of capitalism in Early Modern Europe. I’ll be up-front that I’ve never been big on writing on my own time, but my hope is that putting down more serious thoughts than the ones I post on Twitter will make me feel a bit less schizoid about all the books I read on my own time to the extent that they aren’t related to any formal education. Aside from it’s crediting a hero of mine the title should also be a bit of a dual reference, a deliberate misinterpretation of Braudel’s term referring to the material, economic substance of ordinary human survival which signals that this publication will hopefully let me crystallize some ideas out of my life’s own turbulence
